Vintage Shopping In Paris

Oh, the joy of finally writing this post!!!

This trip was my first time in Paris, and of course the shopping did not disappoint, especially the vintage

I’ve gotten in the habit of buying mostly vintage (or handmade/local goods) when I travel because I feel like now you can pretty much buy everything else online.

Here are some of the places I visited.

Catherine B

It was a little difficult to find, but the staff was helpful and spoke some English.  One thing to note about Catherine B: I noticed on the website it says “Chanel and Hermes” but that is literally ALL they carry.  Which of course is amazing! But if you’re looking for a place where you can dig around and find a hidden gem of something, this isn’t the place.  Some of the vintage Chanel earrings are super fabulous, there is quite a collection of Hermes scarves, and unusual Chanel tops and dresses.

Major positive: If you’re specifically looking for a vintage Chanel bag, you have TONS of options! They are also very responsive and helpful on twitter. @FromCatherineB (I chatted with them before going.)

Brands: Hermes, Chanel

Didier Ludot

One fabulous thing about Didier Ludot is it’s location! It is located in Palais-Royale, with a gorrrrgeous garden area with fountains and statues, etc.  It’s also close to the Louvre so after you’ve strolled through the Louvre, grab a croissant or some macarons and enjoy them in the garden here to rejuvenate, and then check out all 3 locations of Didier Ludot! One location is mostly all Little Black Dresses, another location is very rare, vintage dresses, and then finally (my favorite) location has tons of accessories: bags, jewelry, shoes, etc.  This is a must see, even if you don’t buy anything!

Major positive: One of the most famous vintage places in Paris! Also, many of the items list what year they are from which is neat since that is sometimes hard to figure out.
Brands: Mostly major brands. Hermes, Balenciaga, Dior, Lanvin, YSL, Chanel…

Gabrielle Geppert

Located just a few steps down from Didier Ludot, this is one of the places I stumbled upon and had not researched in advance.  Everything was in such perfect condition I was actually confused at first as to whether or not it was vintage!  Just take a look at the picture of the window I took! There is also a Gabrielle Geppert line of bags, jewelry, and belts! You might even see Gabrielle there herself!

Major positive: Everything was in PERFECT condition, and the staff was soooooo friendly! I was in a hurry to not miss our dinner reservation, so I couldn’t stay long, but as I was leaving an employee (who might have been Gabrielle?) rushed over and gave me the store business card and said (in english!) “come see us the next time you’re in town!” So friendly. It makes a difference! I will definitely go back!

Brands: Chanel, Dior, YSL, Vuitton, Hermes

Scarlett

I wasn’t able to snap a photo at Scarlett, but this tiny shop was jam packed with the most fabulous goodies you can imagine!!  I felt like some of the prices weren’t quite as scary and of course everything was in amazing condition!  The location is pretty easy to find as it is right behind Plaza Athenee, (you might remember Carrie Bradshaw’s moment there).  So if you’re like me, and tired of using a map to find places because you’re spoiled by GPS, just tell the cab driver, “le Plaza Athénée s’il vous plaît!!” And then walk about a block directly behind it.  Did I mention it is right off of Avenue Montaigne, which is basically the 5th Avenue or Rodeo Drive of Paris?  Get ready to shop till you drop!! (Stop for lunch at L’Avenue!!)

Major Positive: If you like to dig around to find the perfect little treasure that you’ll be obsessed with for years, this is your spot! It’s small but everywhere you turn you see new little treasures tucked away here and there. I loved this boutique!

Brands: There seemed to be more of an array of brands at this boutique, which I liked.  But definitely still tons of Chanel!

Location: 10 Rue-Clément Marot, Eighth Arr.; 33-1/56-89-03-00.

One place I wanted to go but just never made it was Reciproque … the location was a little off the beaten path for me, but Olivia Palermo’s site gave a really great review on how to navigate it. Here is the link! http://www.oliviapalermo.com/vintage-paris/

Are there any fabulous vintage places I’m leaving out?  Do you have a favorite vintage place when you travel? Or do you prefer to buy something new when on vacation?

I’d love to hear your feedback! Please comment with any other fabulous vintage places you know of in Paris so we can all add them to our list!!  Thank you!

Happy Monday!

PS – Stay tuned for my blog post about my purchases on this trip!! Eek!

Hi friends! I'm a Georgia based wife & mom. I started blogging in 2009 (!) and have covered a range of topics over the years, but in 2021 I am placing an emphasis on finding the good things to celebrate. In 2020 I think we have all learned to cherish time with family, enjoy the little things, and celebrate occasions big or small. I'll share special pieces I find that I believe can punctuate these days for the best. Reach out to me at tiffany@bloomstudiocreative.com if you'd like to get in touch! Thanks for stopping by! Take your shoes off and stay a while.
