This year, I made our family Christmas card with Minted.com. Stationery tends to excite me, no matter the occasion, but a pretty & personalized holiday card ranks highest of all. I love checking the mail every day in December to see all of the holiday cards from friends and family. We display them on a wire Christmas tree frame and then a couple of years ago I started saving the cards to make a little booklet to keep! (Photo to come. It’s super easy – you just punch a hole in the top left corner of each card, and add a little ring to easily flip through the cards!) The quality of our Minted cards were just what I was hoping for, and I love that Minted supports individual designers. All of the designs you see on their website are done by artists all over the country. In fact, you can see exactly who made your card and where they are based! Our “Cheers” watercolor cards were created by Alethea and Ruth in Seattle.
One thing I did differently this year was take advantage of the address printing that Minted offers. There are so many gorgeous options to choose from. It’s a bit unconventional I suppose since most etiquette dictates you handwrite addresses for a personal touch. However, I came to the conclusion this year that maybe that is just another etiquette rule that is becoming a little more flexible….. I say, spend more time on writing a handwritten note on the actual card, than writing out 100 different zip codes. (And if you’re like me, I like to double check all the address info to make sure I didn’t accidentally write one person’s name with another persons’s address, etc.) Not to mention, if you don’t have great handwriting, a fancy printed envelope might look a little nicer anyway! Plus, now I have our entire address book saved with Minted, so our next set of cards will be super quick and easy. A few of our cards were done by the fabulous calligrapher Yes Ma’am Paper Goods at the Minted + Southern Living Cakes and Cards party I attended, which is another fabulous option of course! The rest of our envelopes were printed by Minted by uploading our address book into the system. So easy! I decided to make our envelopes a little more personal with a hand-stamped return address instead of having those pre-printed as well.
One of the other cool features Minted has is the option to add in your own envelope liner, DIY style. I loved adding that little touch myself. You just peel the adhesive strip and pop it right in!
So there you have it! I dropped the cards in the mail today and now can sit back and relax. Or maybe bake some holiday cookies next …
PS – Minted is offering 15% off holiday card orders $150+ (Code: JOY15), 10% off $100+ (Code: JOY10) until December 8! So hurry it up if you want to make a purchase!
