As promised, I’m giving a makeup review of the eyeliners I tested for the AOL beauty awards! Yay!
Behold – The nominees:
- Elf intense ink eyeliner
- Benefit they’re real push-up liner
- Marc Jacobs magic marc’er
- Kat Von Dee tatoo liner
- Circa Precision Eyeliner
The one I hated the most was so surprising. Benefit’s they’re real push-up liner just did not do it for me. It is a gel, not an ink, and you actually do twist it so it “pushes up” through the wand – which just seems messy to me. And it wasn’t very easy to apply. I gave it to my sister to see if maybe it’s just me and she might like it. Update from my sister: it would probably be good for someone who’s good at a cat eye, and it must last forever because it took a while to get off with makeup remover. Our final verdict: might be good if you are a makeup guru but not great for everyday ease.
The other one I didn’t like was Circa because the tip was so tiny, it made it super hard to apply.
Loved: Marc Jacobs magic marc’er! Would have never thought this one would be so great, but it really went on well, and was easy to apply. Plus the packaging is GORG if you’re into that kind of thing. It’s $30 on Sephora though so the price is a negative especially if you go through a lot of liner.
Loved: Elf intense ink eyeliner! I had not really heard of this brand before and had no clue if it was high end or low end when I was testing it. Originally it was my absolute favorite from the bunch! Then I found out it was only $3 – whattttt. The $3 makes me think it probably runs out or gets gunky in a week. Mine is still going strong though, although I haven’t used it every day. I think you can pick this up at your local Target, Wal-Mart or drugstore. For $3 it’s def worth a try! Honestly, you’re supposed to throw out liquid eyeliner every 3-4 months anyway to keep it sanitary, so this might be the way to go.
Loved: Kat Von Dee tatoo liner! The application is great and it stays on well. At $19, it’s the perfect middle man between the Marc Jacobs and Elf. Overall, great product.
My own nominee: Before doing this test for AOL, my drugstore liquid eyeliner of choice for some time has been Maybelline New York Studio Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner. You can pick it up at CVS or any drugstore for under 10 bucks. I did find myself replacing it fairly regularly, but again, it’s a pretty good idea to replace your liquid eyeliner every 3-4 months anyway.
That wraps it up! I hope you’ve enjoyed this review. I do tend to get a little wordy on makeup reviews, thanks for reading if you’ve made it this far down!!
