This month’s “Decor du mois” is all about the dining room. My guest editor, Laura Cochran Nay curated these photos and is sharing a few thoughts on dining rooms these days! Take it away Laura!

I don’t know about you, but I love a fabulous dinner party that lets me pull out the fancy champagne coups and a cocktail dress. I’ve noticed the departure from formal dining rooms in the past but I think our generation is ready for a grown up dining room. Paint it a bold color, pick out a show stopping chandelier and use a luxurious fabric on upholstered chairs! I went so far as to wallpaper my ceiling of the dining room! So what are you waiting for? Let’s have a glamorous dinner fete darlings!  – Laura Cochran Nay

One of the things I love about dining rooms is that you can go as grand or as simple as you want. For instance, the next to last photo above is only a small round table for 4 people, but it is gorgeously pulled together.

When we first bought our home, I knew we needed to replace the 90s brass chandelier ASAP. The thought of purchasing a chandelier just seemed kind of overwhelming though, so we ended up doing the very millennial thing, and ordered one on amazon for the time being. ;) Ha! This is the one we went with. Next on my list of updates is a new coat of paint! Here are a few other chandelier ideas:

I hope you enjoyed this month’s decor post! Special thank you to Laura for helping me with these since I am so not a decor person, although I wish I was! You can follow Laura on instagram here.
