This weekend Charles and I had the pleasure of visiting Charleston for the first time ever for a wedding! (Technically Charles went as a teenager for a soccer match, but he didn’t really see much.)
We were lucky enough to stay with our friends who live in town and were so nice as to show us around to all the best local places. I thought I’d share a quick look at our 48 hour Charleston itinerary in case you’re planning a quick trip anytime soon!
Friday: We arrived Friday afternoon, got settled in, and went to an 8:00 dinner at Halls Chophouse on King Street. The food was absolutely delicious! You may have seen the monster steak Charles devoured on snapchat!! They are famous for of course the steak, but the cream corn side dish (shareable) is a major fan favorite. I personally was also crazy about the brussel sprouts. After dinner we went to Sermets for the rehearsal dinner afterparty, but it is also a wonderful dinner place you may want to look into!

Saturday: Saturday we woke up and brunched at Hominy Grill – one of the only places that serves brunch on Saturdays. Hence, why there was a super long wait. Luckily there was a barber shop around the corner so we decided to duck in there and let Charles get a shave (and enjoy their air conditioning!) while we waited! Of course the food was delicious!

Thanks to our hosts we got the perfect walking route for exploring downtown after brunch. And yep I even laced up my sneakers so I could really get in my steps and see everything! Here ya go:
Park at the parking deck at King St. and George St. (Easy to remember – King / George!) This puts you right out at two great boutiques, Hamden Clothing and Finicky Filly. Def stop in both of these! Continue to walk down King St. and you’ll run into the corner of King and Broad. Take a left and walk down Broad. Then when you get to the corner of broad and East Bay, take a right. You’ll walk by the rainbow houses and walk along the battery on the water.
If you take this route you’ll knock out seeing a lot of the highlights all in one walk! We actually took an uber from the rainbow houses back to the parking deck because we needed to hurry home to get ready for the wedding but if you have time, you can mosey back a different way and you’ll see tons of beautiful homes and architecture on every street.
Sunday: We woke up Sunday and decided to walk the big bridge connecting Charleston to Mount Pleasant, The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. (If you’re on the Mount Pleasant side, there is a Shell station you can park at that puts you right onto the pedestrian walkway.) The views were amazing and it was a great way to get in a little workout before sitting in the car all afternoon driving home!

Next we decided to hit up Waterfront Park to see the famous Pineapple fountain, and more of that side of Charleston around 11am. Then we made it to our 11:30 am brunch reservation at Edmund’s Oast, which was delicious. It was the perfect spot to go because it was on the edge of town so we were able to jump right on the interstate and scurry on home to get sweet William!

I’ll be back in Charleston in August for The Blog Societies‘ annual conference, so I’d love to hear any other recommendations you have as well! My roommate Danielle of Lou What Wear and I have already been getting our ducks in a row so we can get the full Charleston experience again and I can’t wait!
