Today I’m sharing a few photos from the whirlwind fashion week trip I took with my good friend Holly. I managed to go to 4 shows, skipping the last 2 due to rain, traffic, and almost missing my flight home. But the good news is I got to see some shows, do some touristy NYC things I love (more on all of that later), and catch up with my blogger friends Jackie and Tracy! Make sure to check out their blogs too!
On to today’s look:
Let’s be honest. I chose this dress because I wanted to mirror the gorgeous blues and greens in the BG Restaurant. If you haven’t been, google it. It is the lunch spot at Bergdorfs and one of my favorite places in the city. The sweeping views of Central Park and 5th Avenue are enough to make you want to go, but the decor is TDF. (To. Die. For!)
I mean seriously gorgeous. I had no idea until recently that it was designed by a new designer crush of mine, Kelly Wearstler, so it makes sense that I’m obsessed. (I’m kind of surprised that it hasn’t become overrun with instagram seekers like myself.)
Long story short, the next time you’re in NYC, you MUST GO to this restaurant. And then request the gorgeous chairs overlooking the park and send me a pic. I’ve never been able to score those chairs before but I’m going to keep trying. ;)
We snapped these pics just after leaving the fabulous lunch, and still on a bit of a Bergdorfs high if you will. We kind of had a major encounter in the ladies room.
Bet-ty.
Betty.
Betty was in the ladies room chatting casually with a (seemingly) long time customer.
I was at Bergdorfs in the presence of the one and only Betty!
If you have no idea what I’m talking about… Betty Halbreich has been THE personal shopper at Bergdorfs for 4 decades. She is known for being super honest and having a very loyal customer base. I wanted to introduce myself but I honestly didn’t know what I’d say. It was so cool to see her in person though. I first heard of her in the Bergdorfs documentary, “Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs.”
She is still dominating fashion at 87 and she looks amazing. Go Betty, go!
Styling Hack: (see last photo above)
I have a habit of buying dresses at the Tibi outlet in St. Simons that totally do not fit, because I plan to alter them later. Then I forget, and want to wear them, and then, well here we are folks. Enter today’s styling challenge. This dress was originally $525, and I bought it for $20. I repeat, twenty dollars. So you understand why I figured I’d be better off just paying for alterations now right?
The fit was just way too big in the upper portion of the dress, gaping around my underarms. So, while I was packing and determined to bring this dress, I decided I could probably tie a bow in the back and tighten it up a bit. Holla! Crisis averted, and the dress now has a little party in the back. #Winning. You should totally steal this faux-alterations trick the next time you’re in a bind!
Yet another reason why having little bows and accessories like this from Asos ALWAYS come in handy to have for last minute updates to outfits. Love this pink one.
And no, I 100% do NOT think Betty would approve of that styling hack. She’d say to get it altered to fit properly! I’m making a mental note to finally get it done!
Thank you for stopping by today! xo
