When one door closes …

img_8171-2Another one opens! As promised, I wanted to share some exciting news today that explains why I’ve been posting less often the last few weeks! (I’ve been very busy!)

Charles and I, as of about an hour ago, are homeowners, again! The last several weeks have been a whirlwind, trying to get as much done as possible before closing on the new house. We were not hardcore looking for a new house, but this one just found us. And we fell in love. Which is funny because all the other houses we’ve casually looked at, neither of us were crazy about at all. I saw someone share a different listing on Facebook that I clicked on, one Wednesday evening while we were watching TV a few weeks ago.  I ended up poking around Zillow or Trulia, and happened to see this house. Immediately, I knew! I think I joked to Charles, “PACK YOUR BAGS!” before he even opened the link I sent him on his phone. We both looked at each other like, HMMMM. He emailed our realtor and within 2.5 days we had placed an offer. How quickly things can change!

Our current home has a very wooded backyard that dips down into a creek, so it’s not safe for William to play. And our front yard is also too on a bit of a slope into the driveway. Now that he is really walking, (basically running), we know he would LOVE to be able to play outdoors more, so that was a big motivator in this new house. Plus Bentley (our dog) will love having her own fenced in back yard. Plus we just really loved the bones of this house and it has several features our current one does not have.

Over the next several weeks you can expect a lot of renovation updates, as we’ll be sprucing everything up before we move in! I plan to document everything on instagram of course with the hashtag #OlsonAbode, so follow along! I have managed to acquire the world’s best interior designer to help me out, and she and I have been literally texting, pinning, calling, shopping, and planning every single day for hours on end. More on her later. ;)

I won’t go into all the details today, especially in the wake of the current Hurricane Matthew situation we are dealing with! I spent most of yesterday afternoon and evening feeling so helpless for all of the evacuees trying to flee Florida, and the coast of Georgia and South Carolina.

William and I actually met another mom & son at Chick-fil-a yesterday who had evacuated from Beaufort, S.C. She said the only place they could find within a 500 mile radius was a (very sad looking hotel here) in Macon, GA. On the bright side, they have been loving Macon! It still made me so sad for these people who are leaving their homes and not sure if they’ll be there when they return.

If you’re a local reader, make sure to please donate to the Red Cross shelters going up around Macon, they’re currently asking for towels, soap, shampoo, washcloths, pillows and blankets for evacuees. To help, contact the American Red Cross at 478-743-8671. More info here.

Thank you for stopping by today! XO

Hi friends! I'm a Georgia based wife & mom. I started blogging in 2009 (!) and have covered a range of topics over the years, but in 2021 I am placing an emphasis on finding the good things to celebrate. In 2020 I think we have all learned to cherish time with family, enjoy the little things, and celebrate occasions big or small. I'll share special pieces I find that I believe can punctuate these days for the best. Reach out to me at tiffany@bloomstudiocreative.com if you'd like to get in touch! Thanks for stopping by! Take your shoes off and stay a while.
