I shared this post from Vogue the other day on my facebook page because lately I’ve been thinking a lot about basics. Basics tend to have a reputation as being boring. But I have to say, simplifying and de-cluttering isn’t so bad.
To put it nicely, I have to reference the quote from the article: “What’s wrong with paring down and getting back to basics?” says Vogue.com Senior Fashion Editor, Jorden Bickham.
I’m not fully endorsing the #BasicB notion. But I do think that it’s nice to know what you like and stick to it. Having your “go-to” look can be a huge time-saver. I also think shopping has changed in recent years, because if you really want that fully sequined frock for New Year’s Eve, you rent it.
What do you think about the back to basics trend?
PS – Local friends I hope to see you tonight at Bloomingdales! They have launched a line of 1,000 items with 100 designers that are exclusive to Bloomies – hence the #100percentBloomies hashtag you’ve probably been seeing! I am styling some looks alongside Waiting on Martha and Gilty as Charged with Jezebel Magazine‘s style editor Allison Mitchell. See you from 6-8! (If you can’t make it tonight, you can also shop this collection online here.)
