Today I’m sharing just a few pictures of the food and decor at last weekend’s Derby themed baby shower in Atlanta. You can see the full post on what I wore here.
A few key ingredients for a fun Derby Shower …
- Alcohol-free mint juleps (recipe below). Refreshing and cool for warm derby weather.
- Derby style “Betting Slips” for guessing the weight + hair/eye color of baby. Make sure to ask for addresses on the betting slip so you can send the winner their prize! Props to Ashley for whipping these up! So fun!
- Refreshing & light snacks for warm derby weather. The strawberry cake even had a whipped cream icing which was perfectly light for a warm day.
- One fun idea to steal: use cute storage boxes as gift boxes! Nurseries need tons of storage, so put the gift in a box the mom can use to store things in later! In the next to last photo, you see the chevron gray and white boxes Victoria wrapped her gifts in so we could keep them in the nursery for little odds and ends later. Mine has found a spot in the closet that holds small toys. Genius idea Victoria! Totally stealing this idea the next time I go to a baby shower. I would have never thought of this.
Everything came together so perfectly and I want to thank my friends Victoria, Ashley and Marlene again for such a beautiful shower. And a big congrats to the other expecting honorees, our friends Megan and Ashley.
Also a big big thank you to everyone who came to my hometown shower this past weekend! You can see what I wore to it on instagram here, and hopefully I will have photos of it to share on the blog later this week as well! I ended up going with this non-maternity dress, which I am excited I’ll be able to wear again later!
