Hello 2016

Tibi Skirt, Valentino heels

Well, here we are in 2016! I absolutely love having a fresh start with a brand new year. Don’t you? It’s just so nice to have a clean slate and a new vision for what lies ahead. Today marks my first blog post of the  year, so I thought I’d share a few resolutions of mine.

Style Resolutions:

  • Get organized. My closet lately has become a bit of a disaster. Between old maternity clothes and a tornado of accessories, I really need to do a big reorganization to start the year our fresh.
  • Get rid of un-loved wardrobe pieces. This year, I’d really like to whittle down my closet to the essentials & pieces I truly cherish and love. I’m ready to do some spring cleaning already. Real talk: 3 bedroom closets in my house are full of my clothes. (My room, my office’s closet, and the guest room closets.) I love using spare closets for seasonal items, but it’s time to do some editing. And let’s be honest, now that I’m a mom I just feel like some of my old wardrobe needs to go.
  • More capes. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I’ve been obsessed with capes for a while now, and I’m now coming to the conclusion that this isn’t just a passing trend. I just think they have such an elegant feel. I own 3, but 2 of them have slightly awkward limited arm movement, and none of them are for super cold weather. I’d love to add 1 or 2 to my collection now that I know what I’m looking for.
  • Buy less but choose wisely. Getting a quick fashion fix at places like Forever 21, H&M and Zara is pretty standard for most fashion addicts I suppose. I love being able to test out trends at a lower price point before making an investment in a pricier piece.  But I think lately I’ve realized that sometimes that is actually just lazy shopping. Maybe taking the time to really find the best fit, style, and trend etc. to begin with will save me from having the graveyard of fast fashion items that didn’t quite hit the mark. This might require more shopping in store instead of online though, so we’ll see how that goes. I really prefer online shopping!

Personal Resolutions/Goals:

  • Finish all the books I keep starting!
  • Entertain more. “Let’s have a party! Let’s have it tonight!”
  • Start some new family traditions that William can enjoy.
  • Organize photos. Anyone have any tips for how to manage all the baby photos?
  • Travel with William. He still hasn’t been on his first flight!
  • Run a 5K.
  • Cook at home more. Try new recipes.
  • Spend more time off my phone.
  • Plan ahead a little bit better for holidays, birthdays, vacations, etc.
  • Renovate half-bath & re-paint dining room.
  • Send more snail mail.
  • Resume kickboxing!
  • … tons more but this is a good start!

Last but not least, in 2016 I plan to change this blog from being a personal style blog to a full lifestyle blog. More on this later, but in general there will probably be less outfit posts, and more real life posts. Like updates on what baby products I’m loving, more peeks into my freelance work life, and all the other things in between. I’ve debated making this switch for a while, so I’m excited to finally dive in! Please let me know if there are any topics you’d like me to cover!

Thank you for following along! Cheers to making 2016 the best year yet!!!!

Hi friends! I'm a Georgia based wife & mom. I started blogging in 2009 (!) and have covered a range of topics over the years, but in 2021 I am placing an emphasis on finding the good things to celebrate. In 2020 I think we have all learned to cherish time with family, enjoy the little things, and celebrate occasions big or small. I'll share special pieces I find that I believe can punctuate these days for the best. Reach out to me at tiffany@bloomstudiocreative.com if you'd like to get in touch! Thanks for stopping by! Take your shoes off and stay a while.
