My last DIY Do Not Disturb post was such a hit that I decided to bring it back with some fresh info and updates.
- I started with a hat I got at Target for $15. Grab it here.
- I decided to cut off the gold knotted rope detail because I thought it was cheapening the look. I meant to pick up some pretty black and white gingham ribbon to add to this area but forgot but may add that later. I like it without anything too.
- For the script, I used sequin trimming I found at Joanne’s fabric. I requested 3 yards but I think 4 or 5 would’ve been a little bit better to have a little leeway. This will depend on how many words you’d like to say of course. I used a liquid stitch to adhere the words on, which I wrote with the glue first (free hand) one letter at a time, then added the trimming on as I went. The great thing about the liquid stitch is that because it dries clear, you really can’t mess up. Once I got done with a whole word, I would go back and shift little pieces around to make sure the script looked nice. You can play around with it for a while before it dries.
Once I actually got mine to the pool I was surprised at how the sequin trimming did NOT budge. The liquid stitch is LEGIT and your words will not fall off once they are on there!
